The Power and the Glory

The Power and the Glory

This image is called The Power and the Glory and it was captured on the same night as Sunset Strike. After the first storm had dissipated another storm was coming over the mountains to my north so I left Hawkesbury Lookout and headed back down towards Richmond. I found a clear spot near town and started shooting 20 second exposures then on the second exposure it struck about 300 meters right in front of me. I knew straight away that it was a good shot and in the end it was the last lightning strike that I managed to capture that night but it was one of the best! I called it The Power and the Glory because although it is a display of raw power it also displays a beauty the belies its destructive power.
