Uluru Dawn

Uluru Dawn

Uluru is one of those places where you simply run out of superlatives trying to describe both it and the experience of seeing it in person. It really is one the most beautiful places on earth and this image captures beautiful Uluru with the pre-dawn glow light to perfection. Shot in June 2011 the temperature was hovering around 1 degree Celsius as I captured this panorama and it was cold! In the distance you can make out the dome towers of Kata Tjuta to the left of Uluru and in the foreground the desert is alive with new growth after an abnormally wet year in 2010. Young desert oaks frame the image on the right and the skeleton of a dead tree stands out starkly on the left, the pink sky is reaching a crescendo of colour and Uluru is waiting silently to be bathed with the light of a new day.
